The New School Year

Well, it is the beginning of another school year.
And I feel like I’m going to be swimming in homework!! But, hey, no harm ever came from learning.
Here is my diluted schedule for my on coming weeks.

Monday:
Great Books class at three

Tuesday:
Spanish at one

Wednesday:
Latin at twelve

Thursday:
Algebra at one thirty

Friday:
My only day off, which is used to catch up on homework.

See, isn’t this going to be a fun year!! I’m looking forward to it. I only hope, and pray, that Algebra doesn’t get to confusing. And, sometime soon, I’m going to have to add Writing and Logic to that schedule. I can’t wait!!
I know, my mom is probably reading this right now, and scratching her head, and wondering where her daughter is, but…I’m right here, Mom!!!…*grin*.
Well, I hope everyone has a great Labor Day weekend!!
God bless,
Megan

Puppy Love

Hello all,
Yes, I'm alive. I can't write much, my alotted time is quickly running out, and I had some news I wanted to share....
Saturday, my mom and I got a puppy. She is a broder collie/ cowdog mix, in other words, a mutt. She is six weeks old, and very, very cute. And, she's the complete opposite of our last dog, who was very hyper and bouncy. Shea, our puppy, is very laid back and calm.
I hope everyone is doing well! I will write later.

Do the math...

Okay, so I bet why you are wondering about the title "Do the math...". First, let me explain. This past weekend was the Monroe Ball, and mom and I were supposed to go. But, events happened, car diagnostics passed, and mom decided to not go. Oh, well. As you can imagine, I was a little sad, so my dear mum decided to have an adventurous weekend. Kayaking was what she decided. So, I agreed (aren't I nice?), and we got ready to leave Saturday morning at around seven. We got to Lake Conroe at around nine thirty and set out to paddle. Our kayaks were rather long, mom's being fifteen feet long and mine being sixteen feet long. But not before we put on sunscreen. So, we kayaked around the calm water, and then headed out into the open water. The waves weren't that high, but in a kayak, that happens to be shallow and rather easy to tip over, they were a bit much for me. But, mom used her powers of persuasion, and we headed out to the other side of the lake. There and back, plus the hour of getting used to paddling, equals a total of three hours on the lake. (I usually was ahead of mom, being younger and a tad stronger...*grin*). We eat at the nice little restaurant were they allow 'soggy bottoms'. Which was good considering that my Capri's were soaking. Mom changed clothes. No sense of adventure...any ways. I, of course, fall asleep in the car on the way home. When I woke up, we were close to home, and mom pointed something out to me...here's were you guys and gals come in. What does three hours of being in direct sunlight plus bare lower legs and no sunscreen equal???
Red, red, red legs. Or.... sunburn...yep. It's actually quite funny. I have this line an inch below my knees that is slightly diagonal that goes from white-ish to red...hehehe...
I've learnt my lesson, but I'm still going kayaking. It's fun, and gives your arms a good work out.
Plus, Lake Conroe is beautiful. The water is warm and clean, as clean as it can be, and it’s a friendly place to be, with family and friends having fun.
God bless you,
Megan

Apologies...and some talk

I'm back!!
I'm so sorry that I was gone for so long, but first the boundaries were set, then when that was lifted, I ...errr...forgot my password. Yes, that is me. I always forget passwords, because I always make them different, so I think I should follow mom's example and make them relatively the same.

I had a big idea of what I wanted to write, but now, I can't say that it would go well with my mood. Yes, I am one of those people that can only write when the mood suits them. And lately, I have been in a serious writing mood. My mother can tell you that every time she comes home, I'm scribbling in another notebook. So, today I have directed that 'scribbling mood' to here, so I can let you know 1) that I am alive and well, 2) that I have around five different books going on right now. A new record for me! Hehehehe....

Okay, time for updates:
We (mom and I) planted a vegetable garden, an orchard, and some grape vines. Which I' sure you've heard about from mom. But I'm going to tell you now. *grin*
The vegetable garden at first was a massive plot of weeds. But some hard work and a pitchfork took care of that. Mom decided to try a new method of planting. So instead of doing the rows, she made little rectangular raised bed's and planted on there. Around the bed's, she put straw (or hay, I can never remember which) to make a nice little path, and to keep down the weeds. So far it has worked. The lettuce and the green beans are getting picked, and before long, the zuchinni (spl?) will too. Then, the tomatoes and the onions will be picked.
I'm really enjoying being able to pick everything. It's nice knowing that the salad that I just ate, or the tomatoes in the sandwich came from our own garden, not from a place were they go crazy if one little bug is seen on a leaf of a plant.

I would like to thank JFC for giving me the final little shove in the direction of writing. He found my hiding spot in xanga. I would like to say, in my defence, that I haven't posted there in a little while either.
But now, I must leave you, for my other audience has grown impatient. Thank you to all of you for sticking around to see when I would post again, again I apologize for the delay, and I have to say that everyone here in much more patient than the people on xanga, which is a great blessing.

Boundaries

Young lady has a bound'ry set,
Thus for a time she may not get
To correspond in this locale.
But patiently await our pal.
For, in due time, I feel quite sure,
If limits are, with grace, endured,
Our friend will once again return
With bound'ry's lessons happ'ly learned.

Information!

Well, I did say that I would give you some information!
The basics are: My name is Megan. I live on a five acre prairie farm in Texas. And I live in a green house. Yep, green home. My mum chose the colors, but I had to put my foot down when she said she wanted to have a red roof (not really, they don't have red roof's, I think). So we ended up with a red front door.
The back (or the front, which ever way you look at it) of the house faces a large field that has cows and horses pasturng on it. The back yard is mostly fenced off, because we are letting our neighbor's six jersey cows eat the grass, in exchange for fresh milk (yum!).There is the chicken coop, which is next to the veggie garden. On the other side of the coop, are the graves of two pets, a cat and a dog. The part of the house that faces the road, is fenced off for the cows also. Leaving only an acre and a half for me to mow and for my little brother to play in. But even that is being taken over! My mother is in the process of planting an orchard. Did I mention that she's trying to grow grape vines? There also are four raised beds for herbs (hence mom's name) and there are plan's for plenty more. I'm not complaining! I absolutley love it! Except for the lack of trees.
Since we are on the prairie, the wind get's really harsh, so we have found a solution. Pine trees. They block wind and noise. The only problem is, where to find them. The answer, to order them when they are about a foot high and then spend the next month or so planting them, and trying to keep a staight line while planting. Not easy to do. At least for me, that is.
If you look at the beginning of the row, you may notice that it tends to go a bit...off. Okay, not a bit, a lot off. My only excuse is that it was right after a big down pour and it was really, really muddy. So muddy that my boots got stuck several times.
Along the drive way, there is a line of Bradford Pear trees. When the flowers bloom, they are gorgeous! They take your eyes off the crooked driveway, but I may be the only one that has noticed that so far.
About me: I love writing, so much so that I am writing four books, or trying to. I like reading. If I have spare time, you might find me curled up in a corner with a good book, like Dracula or Watership Downs. I enjoy cooking, to a certain extent. And I am getting better at using the sewing machine, now my skirts actually look like skirts, not shapeless bags. I enjoy going for walks when the honey-suckle flowers are out, and when the sun is setting. The sunsets are sometimes right out of a fairytale, with pink and orange clouds.
For classes, I am currently doing Biology and a Great Books class. In Great Books, we read the old classics like the Iliad and the Odessey. Nothing like confusing poetry early in the morning, eh?
Well, I'm starting to not be able to feel my fingers, so I leave you with this in good grace and in the hopes that you will visit again.
God Bless,
Megan
